Our Work.
What We Do
CORE SERVICE AREA
• Advocacy
- MN advocacy activities revolve around the need to bring awareness to the unhealthy practice of open defecation and the need to professionalize the operation and management of public toilets and showers.
- MN advocates for a standard of operation based on global best practices.
Design & Build
- Facilities are purpose built to handle high traffic. A standard facility has the following features:
- 6 Wc’s for men and women, 6 showers, urinals, handwashing facilities.
- Boreholes to ensure adequate water.
- Waste treatment plant to ensure an eco-friendly waste management system and also explore waste to wealth opportunities through conversion of sewage to renewable energy such as bio-gas.
- People counter using a technology-based access control mechanism.
Operations & Management
- Young and energetic staff are employed and trained to ensure that cleaning standards are maintained and a professional service is provided.
- Maintenance plays a key role and a driving force in providing clean and well-maintained toilets.
Hygiene Education
Before, during and after construction of each facility, we carry out series of sensitization campaigns. Potential users and stakeholders of the target locations are taught how to use the facility to guard against misuse. Health messages on the need to wash hands with soap and water after toilet use are displayed in the facility and our staff are trained to verbally pass on the messages to users.
